Albufeira

Nicknamed “Castelo do Mar” or “Mar pequeno ” by the Arabs, for the way it rises over the water, Albufeira (or Al-Buhera, as it was called in the 8th century) is today one of the most desirable holiday destinations in the Algarve and Portugal.

Albufeira has around 30 km of coastline, home to more than two dozen beaches that you can discover. As for the city itself, it retains some Arab elements, with narrow streets, arches on the facades, whitewashed houses and a castle, which provide a journey into the Moorish history that is at its origin.

Praia dos Pescadores is the ex-libris of this town with a long tradition in the fishing industry. From here, it is possible to travel in picturesque boats that are now dedicated to tourist visits to areas such as the magnificent caves in the surroundings.
In Albufeira you can find everything from a dynamic nightlife, to the reality of the most authentic and traditional places, passing through one of the richest and most varied cuisines in the entire region!

Algarve leisure activities

With its more than 200 km of coastline and an abundance of magnificent beaches, the Algarve is a destination of choice, which has even won the award for Best Beach Destination in Europe 6 times, by the prestigious World Travel Awards.

This province in the south of Portugal has an exceptional climate, with an average of around 300 sunny days a year.

This is undoubtedly one of the biggest attractions for nationals and foreigners visiting the Algarve, but there is much more to discover besides the beaches!
The long costline allows you to practice water sports including water/jet skiing, wind/kite surfing, paddle boarding and canoeing/kayaking .

A land full of centuries-old traditions and genuine culture, the Algarve also has areas of extraordinary natural beauty, for sightseeing such as the Ria Formosa or the Serras de Monchique, Espinhaço de Cão and Caldeirão.

Here you can walk, go trekking , hiking, cycing, horse riding or even enjoy a picnic in the middle of nature.

Returning to culture, why not pay a visit to the historic center of Faro, with its medieval walls, or stroll through towns and villages with whitewashed houses, an influence that remained from the Arab occupation of the region.

Family attractions

Don’t forget that the Algarve is all about family holidays, with loads of fun things to do with the kids. There are water parks, such as ‘Slide & Splash’ and ”Aquashow” and is home to ZooMarine, one of the best theme parks in Europe, where you can enjoy family fun.

For the young budding golfers, there is the ‘Family Golf Park’ in Vilamoura, where all the family can enjoy the excitement of Super Mini-golf plus a Roman themed experience. The park has two 18 holes mini golf courses set in beautifully maintained grounds.
